Juventus sets Diego date

Juventus directors will travel to Germany next week for their final push to sign Werder Bremen midfielder Diego.

The Bianconeri have been tracking the Brazilian international for some time and have already held provisional talks with the player's club and agent.

After Juve's Serie A clash with Lazio, sporting director Alessio Secco is set to fly to Bremen to try and thrash out a definitive agreement for a transfer.

Diego is under contract until June 2011 but the player's relationship with his club seems to have turned sour and he has admitted his desire to leave.

While Werder reportedly value their prized asset at around £20m, Secco will be confident of slashing the cost considerably.

The 24-year-old trequartista has openly flirted with the Old Lady and Juve have a four-year deal waiting that is worth around £4m per season - all that is lacking is Werder's approval.

Should Diego prove a bridge too far, the Turin giants may turn their attentions to Liverpool's Ryan Babel and Fiorentina stopper Manuel Da Costa.
