Queens Park Rangers have signed former Roma midfielder Damiano Tommasi on a one-year deal.
Tommasi spent a decade at Roma between 1996 and 2006 and played in all four of Italy's games at the 2002 World Cup.
The 34-year-old became a cult figure amongst the Giallorossi faithful after he suffered a serious knee injury during a pre-season friendly against Stoke City in 2004 and accepted a minimum wage salary while he recovered.
The popular midfielder received a standing ovation when he returned to action as a substitute against Ascoli in October 2005.
After agreeing a deal with Spanish side Levante in the summer of 2006, Tommasi settled in La Liga but his deal expired at the end of last season.
Now Tommasi has opened what is likely to be the final chapter in his playing career by signing for Championship side QPR in a single-year deal.
