Roma boss Luciano Spalletti is insistent that Brazilian wizard Amantino Mancini doesn’t have to leave the Stadio Olimpico.
The talented forward is known to be unsettled in the Eternal City and has been frustrated by the Giallorossi’s recent contract offers.
Lyon have had their advances rejected on several occasions and Liverpool are believed to be keeping an eye on Mancini, but Spalletti doesn’t expect the former Venezia man to quit the club.
“It shouldn’t be taken for granted that Mancini will leave,” the Tuscan boss maintained.
“I have never listened to the rumours that Mancini will leave. It’s much more likely that he will stay and that is our main hope.
“He is a great player and he is still improving. He has such promise and he could be so useful to any team.”
Mancini’s uncertainty over his future has caused a breakdown in his relationship with the Roma faithful and has seen him jeered on several occasions.
“His relationship with the fans may have deteriorated and he isn’t happy because he is a sensitive lad,” Spalletti admitted.
“Anything can happen in the market. While you can advise a player who isn’t playing to find a new club, nobody should be forced to sell. Transfers are possible, but we are calm.
“I am not expecting reinforcements. I have a really good squad and they have proved themselves this season in their results and their performances.”
