Milan Must Pay More Than £25m For Benzema – Lyon

AC Milan have been told by Lyon that they will have to cough up more than £25m if they want to sign explosive young striker Karim Benzema.

The 20-year-old hitman is one of the most wanted youngsters in the whole of Europe with a host of top European teams cueing up for his signature.

Milan are towards the front of this cue and according to the Gazzetta dello Sport have already begun transfer negotiations with his club Lyon.

However the French champions have told Rossoneri chiefs Ariedo Braida and Adriano Galliani that the £25m they are prepared to offer will not be enough to sign Benzema.

Milan are in desperate need of some forward reinforcements as Ronaldo has played just once this season due to injury, Filippo Inzaghi has not scored in Serie A for almost a year, while Alberto Gilardino has shown little sign that he is capable at starring at the very highest level.

One good sign for the European and World Champions is that teenage wonderkid Alexandre Pato will be eligible to make his debut for the club when Serie A resumes after the winter break on January 13.
