Milan & Inter To Fight It Out Over Berbatov

Berbatov’s body language all season has suggested that he was unhappy at White Hart Lane and this has now been confirmed by his agent.

“Dimitar wants to fulfil his potential and win trophies now,” agent Emil Dantchev told the BBC.

“Time is running out for him to play for a club that can match his ambition. I would like to stress this is not about money. This is about sporting ambition.”

Both Milan and Inter have reacted to this statement by sending representatives for talks with his Italian agent Roberto De Fanti.

Milan are in desperate need of a striker as Ronaldo has played just one match all season due to injury, Filippo Inzaghi has not scored in Serie A for nearly a year, while Alberto Gilardino clearly does not have the ability to play for such a prestigious club.

Inter meanwhile have an excellent array of strikers, although it is widely believed that Adriano will not stay at the club once he returns form his loan spell at Sao Paulo, while the ageing Hernan Crespo is also likely to move on come the end of the season.

This will leave the Nerazzurri with just three senior strikers, and they are keen to snap up Berbatov to complete their forward quota.

Any transfer is unlikely to take place until the summer and the Bulgarian’s asking price will be sky-high, given the fact that Spurs boss Juande Ramos recently declared that club’s will have to break the British transfer record to sign the 26-year-old.
